RE: pearls of wisdom to TXT the Grandkids

Never go to a doctor whose office plants have died. Why is it called 'after dark' when it really is 'after light'?

RE: What is just one fond memory that from your childhood?

Waking up on a cold winter morning to new-fallen snow. Mom in the kitchen with the radio on while we waited eagerly to see if school was closed.

RE: Halloween candy

Wow, Dave! 1,000 trick or treaters, that is astounding! It would be fun to hang out on your porch and watch the kids do their tricks. I remember when I was young, it was normal to do a trick for your treat. Everyone would try to keep their Halloween joke a secret so no one else would use it.

RE: Did you cry when your realized you were a fulltimer??

I was so happy I could poop rainbows. ROFLMAOhttp://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/36/36_11_6.gif Heck, I cry when I realize I'm NOT fulltiming. We're stuck until the housing market picks up or we hit 62 in 2012. I sure hope it's the former!

RE: Traumatic Patella Luxation

You might consider a chiropractor. Jax had a subluxation of a vertabrae in his neck and the vet said to take him to a chiropractor. I did and it worked.

RE: Just got back from three days in Des Moines!!!

Hey, don't be dissing Des Moines! I was born there and lived there until I was 12. Not a bad place to grow up. OK, let the jokes begin! :B :W

RE: Eek! There's a mouse.

We aren't fulltimers (yet) but we live in a rural area and I do battle with the mice regularly. The most efficient way is a regular mousetrap and peanut butter is hands-down the best bait. Do not be soft-hearted! As icky as it may be to dispose of mouse corpses, it's nothing compared to the damage those little varmints can do.

RE: Full Timing

The RV Hometown web page has some good information. I highly recommend attending a Life on Wheels conference. You'll get tons of good information and be able to talk with some fulltimers. RV Dreams is another good website. If you see links to blogs and web pages in the signiatures of other posters, go check them out. You'll find a wealth of good information.

RE: A Fork in the Road

I certainly hope that you will continue to moderate! I have always enjoyed reading your posts and taken to heart your sage advice. It is wonderful that you are able to take care of your mother in her golden years. It's just another advantage of the fulltime lifestyle that you have been able to explore this great country of ours and have found a beautiful place to settle down. I looked up Donnelley on google maps and it looks like a gorgeous area. Best wishes to you, Terry and your mother. I hope you have some acreage to accomodate all the RV's that will be visiting!

RE: What breed of dog is that?

The fun thing about having a Weimaraner is that most people know what the breed is, they just can't pronounce it! :B Hey, is that a Weemanhomer? A Weimanhammer? A Weimanranner? A Weemoranner? http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/36/36_11_6.gif

RE: Locating land?

Be sure to check with the county planning office wherever you decide to buy land to make sure it's legal to park and live in an RV. DO NOT believe the realtor. You should be able to find the county planner's phone number with a google search. There are all sorts of possibilites in places you would never have thought of. For instance, in Lincoln county Oregon you can legally live in your RV from April to October if your property is on the 100-year flood plain.

RE: Dry, itchy skin on my lab

We had a lab who chewed himself raw. It turned out he was allergic to fleas. A topical flea treatment (like Top Spot or Advantix) solved the problem.

RE: Wow, this is sad.

I just waded through that whole thread and don't understand why people are reacting so negatively. :h It's a discussion fer cryin' out loud, not a censure. Nowhere in that whole discussion does anyone say that personal topics should not be allowed. This is JMHO but if you are so sensitive that you feel Walter's discussion is directed at you, then you might not be prepared for the comments you'll receive when you bare your soul on a public forum.

RE: To those I have offended, I apologize

I am shocked that there are people who seriously believe that Walter (dotldaddy) would try to censor or inhibit anyone from expressing themselves in any way. All you have to do is search for his previous posts to understand that this man hasn't a mean bone in his body. It seems that any time poor Walter tries to open up a serious discussion he gets slammed. Remember the dog food wars? (hee hee) Illegitimi non carborundum, Walter. :W

RE: How many full-timers and full-timer wanna be's?

We are wanna-bees. Hopefully in another year, although I said that last year about this time.... :( I feel your pain. We're in the same situation. We've been planning and working towards FT for 4 years and I was really, really hoping that '08 would be THE year. Unfortunately, the housing slump has really thrown a monkey wrench into our carfefully laid plans.

RE: from a recent e-mail

I remember having to wear dresses to school. In the winter the girls would wear flannel pants underneath our skirts so we wouldn't freeze to death. We'd take the pants off in the "cloakroom" and the boys would try to peek around the door.
